Through another spotting of them in an unknown electric blue- again on polyvore- I am pleased to report that according to this article they will be available for purchase this spring. I AM EVEN MORE PLEASED TO REPORT YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY THEM HERE. So I am forever swooning.

Silver and Gold... But Mostly Silver AKA my thoughts on the Holographic Trend
Untitled #73 by sulkygrl featuring vintage skirts
Are you noticing a trend?
Obviously silver, but also these fantastic $260 silver elasticized chelsea boots???

Yes, I have been /slightly/ obsessed with them. If only I could afford them! Though, even if i could I probably wouldn't spent them on such a fleeting trend such as silver/opalescence/holographic. It reminds me of when I was infactuated with creepers a while ago. While I still am fond of the footwear, I remember one time I was visiting a market, and a beautiful pair revealed themselves to me. they were good condition, and my size. also $80, since I guess they were at the peak of popularity or something. And as I held the object of my "undying" adoration, my hand stopped reaching to my wallet. Something in my gut told me these would easily become a cliche. I put them down. Painful, yes. But I used some of my saved money for a giant Jamaican patty... hmm...

Black is the traditional colour
Sweater - Thrifted | Button eyes - picmonkey.com
Idk I'm just really paranoid about stalkers so I disguise myself. I GOT THIS SWEATER FROM THE THRIFT STORE FOR LIKE 5 BUCKS. It smelled like weed but I washed it with some heavy detergent and now it's all good. It's huge, but I love it. :) I kind of reminds me of Jeremy Scott's bart Simpspon sweater that's been gracing like, every fashion blog. So it's definitely en-trend, and that's nice. The sad thing was I had to choose between this, shell earrings, and a mini leather backpack from Peru that was all tourist-y. Sigh. No worries, this was the obvious winner.

Grl Crush: "Shannyn Sossamon"
Since the very first time I saw Shannyn Sossamon in "A Knight's Tale" alongside Heath Ledger, I was in awe of Lady Jocelyn's grace and exotic beauty. She was just so mysterious! I did some research at the tender age of 10 on my mom's computer and found she was a mixed-race lady, like me. She soon became a subconscious role model. I cut my hair to my chin and did my best to achieve the messy/nonchalant look she so effortlessly mastered. As an inactive child of books, movies, and video-games, I unfortunately could not emulate her dancer's body. :( But I definitely caught the bad girl look, being the bad-ass, man eater, sharpie tattoo artist of the 7th grade. I desperately applied pseudo-eyeshadow (bronzer) to my 12 year old eyelids to achieve the dark, yet natural look she had.
Something about her is so effortless, like the fact she wasn't even TRYING to become an actress! She moved to L.A. to be a dancer, and did GAP commercials to pay her rent. Once she realized she liked to act, she went for the part of lady Jocelyn and totally persisted until they couldn't ignore her anymore. Totally great and I love her that is all.

Spring
Untitled #62 by sulkygrl featuring a skater skirt
I feel as if the outfit above, or something along those lines will be my staple outfit this spring break. I am going to be at Disney World's "Animal Kingdom Lodge" (!!!!) and am super duper excited. YOU CAN SEE ANIMALS FROM YOUR FRACKING WINDOW! I am super pumped. Other than that, we will be going to one of the parks. My family is partial to Animal Kingdom/Magic Kingdom, but I love MGM studios and (Most Likely) always will. It tends to be the least packed and the actors are supercool (I'm thinking tower of terror bellboys) and also ALL THE GOOD RESTAURANTS. A 60s diner just plays to my Grease-loving heart. But, where ever we go, rest assured, I will be happy.
SPRING BREAK UNIFORMS!

Good Things on the Internet: "How to Get Kids Into Classical Music | Opus No. 12"
Despite the lengthy title, this "GToTI" is definitely one of my favourites. Adorable children singing pop lyrics to classical music. THEY ARE SO FRACKING CUTE. (also watch till the end for an amazing catch!)

Good things on the Internet: Pokeymans
The Pokeymans Project is a blog dedicated to "Pokemon drawn from description alone by [Noelle Stevenson] who doesn't know anything about Pokemon." It's really a sight to behold and cannot really be described with words.

Grl Crush
Every girl I know of has had one: girlcrushes. Something about it sounds along the lines of the horrid one liner "no-homo", but I am going to let it slide because of it's amazing homage to Orange Crush soda (and the REM song).
So what is Grl Crush? I think it's going to be a monthly article in which I gush about my latest human obsession. This human doesn't have to be a female, the Grl in Grl Crush is just referring to the blogname.
Alright, that's out of the way. The crush will be at the end of the month. I'm not sure when, I want to make it real pretty for the internet... SO, the internet shall wait.

January Mood Board
My style right now is pretty neutral. Apart from being broke and living in a suburb, you might be able to imagine how dull it is at the moment. Though, through the years, I have been able to utilize Gap jeans, H&M, and out-of-town-trips to their full fashion potential. I have also made good use of my local thrift shop, even though it's hoardings seem to be just as dull as the town I live in. For the new year, I am wholly focused on improving my fashion and editing my closet (along with losing weight, but that is beside the point). I am a full believer in loving yourself through fashion, and if my closet is an accumulation of random garments that I don't care about, aren't I a hypocrite? In short, I want to make all the items I own items I love.
This months 5 goals:
- Maintain an A average
- Drink 1 tea a day
- Write in journal at least twice a week
- Find the perfect case for my computer
- Find a new job(?)
Good Things on the Internet: Own a Colour
"Did you know... Your average computer, smartphone and tablet can display 16.7 million colours?"
I'm always impressed when charities come up with innovative ways to raise money. Unicef and Dulux have done just that: created a website wherein you buy a colour, name it, and describe why you chose it for a donation starting at 1 pound. I have been pining to buy a hue for a while, but I can't for lack of a credit card. In that light I'll add: you can also buy colors as gifts! (wink wink nudge nudge) Imagine the possibilities! You could buy a color and paint it on your wall, and be able to say you own it! Check it out here!

Stress/Prioritizing
The bane of every student's existence. How can I handle school, extra-curriculars, romance, and being a good person all in the same life time? Usually you can't, unless you learn the ways of prioritizing. My tactic is to do the daily list.
I make three lists within one. I have the Have2s the Shoulds and the Wants. The Have2s and the Shoulds get done first, so you have time for Wants. Also I find it very rewarding to check things off, maybe that's just me being a childish fool!
The Have2s are things you are obligated to do. So: home work, real work, etc. The Shoulds are things that you might not have to do, but you should do. Such as clubs- though some schools require clubs- teams, and exercise, laundry. Lastly, the wants. The things that make you a person and not a student, the things that you really enjoy. For me there are books, researching things that don't matter, reading, reading, reading etc.
So now it's time to compile the mega-list: edit, re-arrange, figure out what you really need on the list. I always attack the Should. Okay, so you should submit to the school art contest. But, you only find out who wins mid-semester, and if you do win you have to paint your design into a mural in the last half of the semester, next to all of your end semester tests. Hey, if you can swallow that, go ahead, but if you know your going to be swamped come test time... maybe pass.
So now you've compiled your list and you know what you Have2, Should, and want to do. Remember, these should be daily tasks. Always do the Have2s first, then the Shoulds, and maybe throw a Want into the mix. Remember that your big want pile at the end is your jackpot to getting the Have2s and the Shoulds done.
